What is so good about ceramic coating for cars

Glass coating, ceramic car coating, liquid glass, nano ceramic coating, ceramic glass, car paint protection coating, is there a difference between all these products? Well, no, not really. All these terms are used to describe a nano coating based on silica/silicon dioxide (a key ingredient in glass).

These nano coatings are hydrophobic, hard, heat and weather resistant, and this is what makes them so perfect for your vehicle. A ceramic car coating makes your car paint more resilient, and easier to clean. This is because they:

  • Are hydrophobic – They repel water, so water will bead on the surface and slide off. It is also more difficult for mud and grime to adhere to the surface, making washing easier and less frequent.
  • Provide UV protection – When your vehicle is exposed to the sun, the paint will begin to oxidise and fade. A ceramic coating provides a barrier which protects from this effect.
  • Protect from chemical stains – Acidic fluids and salt will stain and etch a paint job (including bird droppings and dead bugs), but with a ceramic coating the hydrophobic property will prevent these destructive elements from affecting the paint.
  • Enhance gloss – A ceramic car coating coats your car in a slick, self-cleaning surface which makes your car glossy and shiny, like it just came out of the shop.
  • Enhances the hardness of the surface by creating additional hard glass coat soi2 protection against minor scratches etc.
  • Smooths minor scratches; helps remove / cover holograms and fine swirls.
  • Provides the surface with very strong hydrophobic properties and with the “easy cleaning effect”. The angle of a contact with water is more than 100 degrees therefore the surface remains cleaner for much longer period of time especially after it rains on the surface.
  • Highlights the colour of paint better and provides it with greater depth of shine, the darker the paintwork the better for this effect.

How to Use:

The ceramic car coating process

Please Note: Applying a ceramic coating that is being applied outside, a flawless result cannot be guaranteed; as a ceramic coating requires a contaminant free environment which can rarely be achieved properly in a outside application.

Preparation of surface.

After washing and drying the car, wipe it down again with a low percentage (15%) IPA solution and a new / clean microfibre cloth, to make sure there is as little contaminants and oils as possible left on the car surface

    • If car is waxed, you must remove wax or sealant using a good quality paint cleaner ie alcohol based cleaner. Wash the car carefully. Make sure there is no washing product left on the surface. It is recommended to coat a newly polished / compounded surface of your paintwork if you want to get the best results from this product. If you have polished / compounded the paintwork, make sure to wash it again to remove all polishing agents off the surfaces.
    • Make sure there is NO WATER left in the spaces between the car door jams boot lid area etc that could run on to the surface while you are coating it.

Coating of surface.

  • Do not apply the coating in direct sunlight.
  • Correct temperature for coating is from 5 °C to 25 °C. While coating,
  • You must use the gloves that come with the coating.
  • Put the application cloth over the sponge app block.
  • Open the bottle and wet the application cloth in different spots with the coating.
  • Cover the surface evenly; make sure that you did not leave uncovered spots.
  • It is recommended to cover the area of 1m x 1m at the time depending on outside air temp dont use on a windy day as this will cause issues airborne partials landing on treated surface during application process which will spoil the finish.
  • The surface must be buffed off gently within 60 seconds after coverage. If the surface gets into contact with water, immediately wipe it off and repeat the coating again. Continue coating areas up to 1m x 1m and buffing off until the full car is complete. Make sure there are no unpolished spots left as you will have to use a heavy paint polishing compound and a polishing machine to remove it.
  • If the temperature is higher than 25 °C, cover a smaller area at a time.
  • It is recommended to keep the surface from getting into contact with water.
  • Depending on the temperature of the outside environment, the coating normally fully hardens in 48-72 hours.
  • Then let dry for 60 minutes at 25C or 2 hours at 15C. The coating will dry completely within 48 hours.
  • Ideal working temperatures: 18C – 25C.
  • During the first 60-90 seconds, apply NANOPRO’s PRO9H to any spots that were missed.
  • After 5 minutes, do not try to re-fill missing spots, it will stain the paint.
  • Apply more layers for more durability! But wait 60 minutes between every layer.
  • Do not apply to freshly painted paintwork or newly painted wheels either
  • Do not wash the car for 7 days after application.
